Aziz is an awesome human being and I can’t encourage you enough to join him on this tour. Sadly, the Fortress was closed, unbeknownst to Aziz or any of us, due to an emergency maintenance issue, so we didn’t get to enjoy that part of the tour. Despite that, the time spent with Aziz and the other delightful members of my group having coffee and dates w/sesame paste, and visiting the Souq Al Zal marketplace was well worth the time. Aziz is a passionate, charming, fact-filled wonder who instantly makes you feel like you are old friends. He patiently and humorously answered all of our questions about Saudi history and culture and showed us sights that have given me new insight into Saudi life. He also was generous enough to offer us all tours of the Fortress, free of charge, when it is reopened. I will absolutely take him up on that, and I look forward to what I will learn from him then. Thanks, Aziz.

Aziz was a fantastic guide, with flawless English. He met me at the metro station and walked with me to the start of the tour. He explained the history and importance of the Fort, giving plenty of time to see the things we were most interested in. Over coffee and Saudi treats (provided by him) he gave us some real insights to Saudi culture. The tour around the souk was enhanced as he negotiated a good deal for us on Saffron and asked the shopkeepers to let us smell different types of Oud. I had a question unrelated to the tour, about the location of a piece of public art and Aziz worked his network to find out where it was for me. This tour was extremely good value.

I enjoyed it very much. Aziz is most friendly and helpful. I have learned how Saudi Arabia becomes what it is today and it is definitely worth the visit to the fortress with Aziz. The souq is a nice place to understand what daily people do here. Aziz is an excellent guide who tells many stories and backgrounds of the arabian culture. I would recommend it to everyone!

I was a bit nervous as a female travelling alone so decided to take a tour - so glad I did! Aziz was fabulous, sharing the perfect amount of insights without overloading us or it getting boring. Would definitely recommend

Sunday Race Day lights out at 20:00 local time. This leaves long daytime windows for city experiences before heading to the circuit each evening.

Book Al Masmak Fortress, Souq Al Zal, and Saudi Coffee — From SAR 34

Q: How far in advance should I book Al Masmak Fortress, Souq Al Zal, and Saudi Coffee during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix? Book at least 1–2 weeks before race weekend. Popular departures during Grand Prix week sell out early. Instant confirmation means your spot is locked the moment you book.

Is It Worth It?

A 5.0-star rating from 57 reviews is a meaningful signal at that volume. It reflects consistent quality across different guides, departure times, and visitor backgrounds. The From SAR 34 price point for 2.5 hrs positions it well for a race weekend where session gaps need filling without eating into the day.

For visitors attending the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: the race itself gives you the circuit. This experience gives you Jeddah. That combination — track plus city — is what separates a race trip from a race weekend.
