About this experience

Khinaliq is one of the oldest and highest villages in the world, located in Azerbaijan's Greater Caucasus Mountains. With over 5,000 years of history and it is situate 2,350 meters above sea level.

1. Besh Barmag Mountain. Driving along the MI motorway connecting the capital of Azerbaijan with the largest cities of Russia, you will see the mountain Beshbarmak, located near the coast of the Caspian Sea. 2. Candy Cane Mountain. The Candy Cane Mountains are shale mountains in the Khizi and Siyazan districts of Azerbaijan, part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range. The 'Candy Cane Mountains' were originally dubbed so by travel author Mark Elliott in his guidebook 'Azerbaijan with Excursions to Georgia'. The mountains' colors are produced by groundwater that alters the oxidation state of the iron compounds in the earth. 3. Qirmizi Qasaba. The next destination will be Guba city, which is located in one of the most beautiful natural landscapes of Azerbaijan. On the way to Guba, our guests will visit the unique settlement of Jews in mountains, "Caucasian Jerusalem" - the Red Town. 4. Qechresh. Qechresh is one of the largest villages in the Guba region. The area is covered with forest on all sides. Qechresh is famous for its natural springs and plants. Along the road, there are recreation areas and restaurants where you can sample the local cuisine. 5. Tengealti. If you go further from Gechresh forest, you find yourself in the Gudyalchay canyons: steep ascents and descents of the road pass through the steep walls of the gorge. The road that passes through two mountains, steep cliffs as well as beautify forest make the view of this village charming. 6. Khinaliq. The mountain village of Khinalig, which is included in the list of UNESCO historical monuments of world importance. With its inaccessibility, unique language, unique architectural appearance, and culture, the village attracts tourists from all over the world. Since 2007, Khinalig has been declared an ethnographic reserve. The most unusual here is the houses located on the top of the mountain in the form of an amphitheater. They look like eagle's nests: built on a slope close to each other, here the roof of one house serves as a courtyard for another located above. On the way to Khinalig, you can often see eagles flying overhead, wild horses galloping along the banks of stony rivers and clouds descending so low that sometimes they can even be touched. And your lunch will be Azerbaijan traditional local foods at local people's home. ***You will spend at least 8 hours on the road (go and back by 4 hours)!!!

Leyla created a warm and friendly atmosphere that made the group feel like a family. Her positive energy, professionalism, and kindness added so much joy to the trip. I strongly recommend choosing any tour guided by Leyla. She is one of the best guides I’ve ever met, and she made this journey unforgettable. Thank you, Leyla! Essam

This trip was the highlight of my vacation. Leyla was the best tout guide and gave us an unforgettable day. We saw the most breathtaking landscapes and she made sure all of us had beautiful foto’s. The car ride was comfortable, the pickup was well arranged and the contact before the trip was excellent. The lunch in Khinaliq village was delicious! All together this is a trip you do not want to miss!
