VENUE GUIDE

GETTING
THERE

Red Bull Ring, Spielberg

The Red Bull Ring sits in the rolling hills of Styria, 60km north of Graz and 200km southwest of Vienna β€” beautiful countryside that demands a plan before race weekend. Most fans arrive by train into Knittelfeld station, then hop a dedicated race shuttle the final 8km to the circuit gates. Book transport and accommodation early: Spielberg is a small village, and the Austrian GP fills every bed within 40km.

HOW TO GET THERE

✈️

Fly In

International Fans

Graz Airport (GRZ) is the closest airport at 55km β€” direct connections from Frankfurt, Vienna, and Amsterdam year-round. Vienna International (VIE) is larger with more global routes but adds 2+ hours of ground travel. Rent a car at Graz or take the direct Γ–BB train from Graz Hauptbahnhof toward Knittelfeld (journey: 45 minutes, hourly service).

Train

Best Overall Option

Take an Γ–BB intercity train to Knittelfeld station β€” direct trains run from Graz (45 min), Vienna (2h 15min), and Salzburg (2h). From Knittelfeld, official Γ–BB race shuttles depart every 10–15 minutes to the circuit gates and cost around €5 return. Buy your shuttle ticket in advance at oebb.at β€” queues at the station on race day are long, so have your ticket loaded in the Γ–BB app.

Official Race Shuttle

Gate-to-Gate Convenience

Red Bull Ring operates official shuttle services from Knittelfeld, Zeltweg, and Judenburg throughout the race weekend. Shuttles run from gates opening (typically 07:00) through 2 hours after the final session ends. The Knittelfeld route is the most frequent and reliable β€” confirm the timetable at redbullring.com closer to race weekend as schedules are published approximately 6 weeks out.

Drive & Park

Groups of 3+

The A9 Pyhrn motorway brings you directly into the Spielberg area β€” follow the race weekend signage from junction Zeltweg. Pre-purchase a parking pass via the official circuit website (P1–P8 zones; P1 and P2 are nearest the main grandstands at a premium). Expect 45–90 minutes in post-race traffic β€” the circuit's one-road-in situation turns the mountain valley into a temporary car park, so build buffer time or walk to a shuttle pick-up point and retrieve your car later.

Helicopter Transfer

Paddock Club & VIP

Helicopter transfers to the circuit helipad are bookable through Red Bull Ring hospitality packages, typically originating from Graz Airport or central Vienna. Journey time from Graz is approximately 20 minutes. Transfers are bundled with Paddock Club and premium hospitality packages β€” contact the circuit's hospitality team directly through redbullring.com for standalone charter options.
