About this experience
Experience one of Australia’s most iconic coastal journeys on this full-day Great Ocean Road adventure from Melbourne. From dramatic ocean cliffs and ancient rainforests to historic landmarks and relaxed seaside towns, this tour delivers the very best of Victoria’s southwest coast in one unforgettable day. Depart Melbourne early and travel in comfort aboard a modern, air-conditioned coach as you cross the iconic West Gate Bridge and head toward the Surf Coast — where the journey itself becomes part of the destination. Just outside the city, we detour to a peaceful, lesser-known wildlife haven for a relaxed morning tea. Surrounded by open grasslands and wetlands, keep watch for free-roaming kangaroos and wallabies, emus wandering the fields, and an abundance of native birdlife. This tranquil stop offers an authentic introduction to Australia’s natural environment and a great opportunity for wildlife photos. Continue along the National Heritage–listed Great Ocean Road, one of the world’s most scenic coastal drives. Stop at the historic Memorial Arch, the symbolic gateway to the road, and hear the story of the soldiers who built it while capturing classic photos beneath the iconic sign. Pass through charming coastal towns including Anglesea, Lorne, and Wye River, keeping an eye out for native wildlife along the way. Arrive in the seaside town of Apollo Bay with free time to enjoy lunch at your own pace (at own expense). Wander the main street, stroll along the beach, or sample some famous local ice cream. In the afternoon, leave the coastline behind and venture into Great Otway National Park for a guided walk through an ancient rainforest. Towering eucalyptus trees, lush ferns, and cool forest air create a serene contrast to the rugged ocean scenery. The journey continues to Port Campbell National Park, where the dramatic Shipwreck Coast comes into view. Discover the story of the famous Loch Ard Gorge, framed by towering limestone cliffs and a secluded beach, before reaching the day’s highlight — the Twelve Apostles. Marvel at these immense limestone stacks rising from the Southern Ocean, shaped by centuries of wind and waves. After a day filled with natural wonders, relax on the scenic drive back to Melbourne, arriving in the evening with lasting memories of one of Australia’s most spectacular destinations.
