About this experience
Experience the historic heart of Montreal without the crowds on this small-group walking tour, recognized among the top 1% of travel experiences globally While many tours in the city can include 15-20 people or more, we intentionally limit our groups to a maximum of 10 guests. This smaller scale creates a more personal and relaxed experience, allowing you to move easily through the narrow cobblestone streets, hear every word of the stories shared, and have plenty of space to ask questions and connect with your guide. Over two engaging hours, your certified professional Montreal guide will bring the city’s history to life through lively, expert storytelling. Rather than a dry list of dates and names, you’ll discover the real people, pivotal moments, and architectural details that shaped Montreal into the vibrant metropolis it is today. We explore both hidden corners and iconic landmarks, providing a deep dive into the culture and unexpected insights of the district. You’ll discover iconic landmarks such as Place d’Armes, the exterior of Notre-Dame Basilica, Place Jacques-Cartier, Bonsecours Market, and Saint-Paul Street, while also uncovering many more hidden corners most visitors walk past. As a locally owned and independent tour company, MTL Detours is fueled by a genuine passion for our city. This isn’t a scripted overview read to a crowd; it’s a well-crafted experience that balances historical depth with local personality and plenty of moments to smile along the way. To help you continue your journey after the tour ends, you’ll also receive our curated list of trusted local recommendations for the best places to eat, drink, and explore nearby, along with a small local treat and a unique parting gift. Space is strictly limited to maintain the high quality of the experience. If you’re looking for the top-rated, intimate way to truly understand Old Montreal, this is the tour to book.
